Introdution-Andrew Davidson
My name is Andrew Davidson and I am a 4th year history major at UCR. I am interested in pursuing a career in teaching after I graduate this spring. I would like to teach high school history classes.
One of my interests is fitness where I enjoy going to gym and weightlifting. I am currently powerlifting where I am trying to become as strong as possible. I also have a part-time job at UPS where I work nights so I am often a night owl.
I have always enjoyed riding dirt bikes in the desert where my family and I go camping. Even as a kid I noticed how many other campers went to areas such as Joshua Tree and Lucerne Valley and left their trash behind. When we would have a fire at night we grabbed the flashlights and in the distance we could see the eyes of coyotes. They dug through the trash and ate whatever they could find. Over time the area we often went to became worse and was destroyed by the thousands of campers that went there every year. The trails that used to be used by animals in the desert looked as if convoys of trucks had rolled through the area. Even the hills and mountains were destroyed by the many trucks and dirt bikes who tried to climb the slopes.
Fun fact about me is I actually crashed my dirt bike in the desert in 2014 where I was lost for two hours with a broken arm. It took a few years to heal but I am perfectly fine now.
Is there any organization of dirt bike riders that takes an ACTIVE interest in desert conservation? I used to hunt ducks when I was young and always subscribed to Ducks Intl, a conservation org that protects habitat etc. Save the habitat, get more ducks! :)
