Introduction--Osvaldo Solis

Hello, my name is Osvaldo Solis and I'm a senior at UCR majoring in history because I believe learning about humanity's history in any context is very cool. I was born in Mexico and raised since I was a baby in South Central Los Angeles or South LA as most of you may know it by name. Therefore, as a little immigrant kid who went to 10 different schools in the LAUSD system, my experiences were a lot but my intellectual knowledge was limited. Since my scholarly education was focused on US history, books became a very interesting thing for me and naturally I developed a desire to understand mine and my people's history. Once I got a pretty good understanding of who I was and where I came from, it drove me to study different histories as in Ancient history all over the world, modern history through a POC lense, and so forth. Through experience and learning history I decided to become an attorney as a career. Other than academics, I am a car aficionado, and my dream car is a 1969 Camaro SS and I want to open up a body shop with my pops. Soccer is a huge passion for me as well, whether it is playing it or enjoying a good match, live or through the TV screen. Relaxing outdoors and visiting new places seems very fun to me so hopefully I become wealthy enough to keep learning history, only that by then I will be doing so at as many different regions of the world as possible.
