Introduction - Antonios Theodosis

Hello everyone, my name is Antonios Theodosis and I am a fourth year history major. I am hoping to become a history teacher to middle school students and to teach world history. My family comes from Greece and ever since I was a child I was enamored with the history of the ancient Greeks, and also other ancient civilizations such as the Egyptians and Romans. I would like to learn more and research about environmental history as I find it interesting just how much the places we live in can change and differ over time. My father tells me about the climate in Greece when he was younger and how the air and water were so crisp and clear and from talking to other family members living there now, it is apparent that things have slowly changed most likely due to pollution and other factors. Living in California my whole life I have often wondered just how different the environment has changed during my lifetime without me actually noticing and I feel that this class will give me something different. Change is good when it comes to education and I am eager to take on this chapter that is new to me!

My main interest besides history mainly lays in the realm of soccer. I am a big fan of the sport and for fun I write articles for a soccer social media page and have been featured in newspapers in Belgium and interviewed former professional players who have played in Greece. My grandfather and uncles played for a team in Germany in the late 1960's called Darmstadt so soccer just runs in the family! Loving soccer so much and connecting it to this class it makes me understand that in order to play and enjoy soccer in a healthy way, one needs to do so in a clean and healthy environment where the air is not full of smog and overall unhealthy.
