Hello everyone, my name is Andres Gonzalez, I am a third year transfer student. My major is history. My ultimate goal in this life is to be a fighter pilot for the United States Air Force. This degree is my ticket to becoming an officer in the military. I am currently working on getting my private pilot's license as well as my skydiving license. The reason I enjoy history so much is because my great grandfather and great uncles fought alongside Pancho Villa in the Mexican Revolution. They are all big names in El Grullo, Jalisco and own over hundreds of acres of land that they use to grow sugar cane. I come from a family of farmers, both on my mother's side and my father's side. It is my father's side that made me enjoy history and cherish its worth. My uncles own and run the land now and they depend on a great environment in order to see their land flourish. I spent over a month on the land and my uncles taught me the ways of the land. I enjoyed the idea of walking the same path as my great grandfather and my grandfather. When I retire I want to move to Mexico and run the land, my dream is to own it and pass it down to my children. So I hope to learn about the environment a little more to be better prepared.
Cool! There is a LOT written about the history of sugar cultivation. Check out Sydney Mintz. Sweetness and Power. Its a classic.
