Introduction- AJ Ratliff
Hello, my name is AJ Ratliff who uses he/him pronouns. I'm a transfer student from Modesto Junior College, so I believe that puts me at third year. I'm a history major and I'm hoping to be a college professor as an end goal. I've lived in California since 2007, before that I lived in Michigan. I have a large family, twelve siblings with 4 brothers and 8 sisters. I'm also an uncle with a nephew from my older sister.
When I was little, specifically when I was in fourth grade, I noticed that I didn't have friends and that I didn't have the same history that my classmates had with each other. I recently moved to California during this time and was fascinated with the history that was taught then. Little me thought that because we're learning the same history, we shared it and it comforted me for some reason. It also didn't help that it was about the gold rush and I thought it was amazing, especially since we lived in an area that was huge for the gold rush.
Growing up, I always loved to learn, especially about the stars. When I went to MJC, I was apart of the Astronomy Club. A few summers we went up to Baker Station, which is past Sonora. It was so clear that you can see the Milkey Way! I've always grew up in areas where I can see the stars really clearly, so when I moved to Modesto and lost a lot of the stars that I'd usually see, I was a bit disappointed. Especially since I know that down by the coast, the smog is a lot worse than in Central Valley.
You gotta head to Joshua Tree, esp. CG's like White Tank. Excellent stargazing!
