Hist 197 Kevin Francisco Pena
Hello everyone, I am a 2nd year transfer student at UCR my major is in History with a concentration in Latin America. My passion is in teaching and I would like to teach high school student since I feel that is the age to best prepare them to venture out into the real world. Other personal reasons is I had a tough upbringing myself which made me into a troubled student and based off of those experiences I feel I can connect with a variety of students from troubled backgrounds which I've felt are easily given up on. As an educator I want to offer my students the knowledge and tools they need to change the reality around them and not accept for what it is. A little about me I grew up in the Estrada Courts Projects in a district of LA known as Boyle Heights(literally right next to East L.A.). For those that may not know the area I suggest you watch Stand and Deliver or if you like comedies Born in East LA, both good classics by the way. You will know where my neighborhoods at in those movies because it is famously known for their murals from the Chicano movement of the 60s and 70s.
cool! nice to have you in the class, Kevin!
